ERNST is very well known for building high-end veneer sanding machines with cross
and wide-belt units.
The cross belt is the key to a perfect surface. Advantage is the absolute evenness
(regardless of earlywood and latewood in the annual rings). Fibres are cut, glue percolations as well as paper tapes are removed without destroying the expensive wide-belt abrasives. The wide belt only has the create the final grain and to remove the cross scratches.
With one cross and one wide belt perfect sanding results in common grains (180 or 220 grit) can be achieved at feed speed of up to 16 m/min.
For higher feed rates the wide belt can be equipped with 2 pressure beams (DUPLEX system)
up to 24 m/min.
Only for lines running faster than 24 m/min 3 head machines are recommended. With a 4 head DUPLEX machine perfect results at feed speeds of 50 m/min are prooven.
If required the machines can be equipped for calibrating.
